Zero too. I quite like the album cover too. I just think Floyd did it right the first time - was not focus on the original music?

The only think that makes me remotely interested in this is the involvement of Kasim Sulton. If he plays and sings on it, I may give it a listen.

This is my favourite version of this album. I have never heard it but I already know its my favourite. This version is going to render the original album useless. The original album has terrible music on it, but this one has amazing music on it.

What a lovely and heartwarming tribute. I'm so glad there are people out there that care no matter what the naysayers say. I guess I'm just another sad old man even though I'm not dying from cancer. '77 was a special year.

That means there must be quite a big buying audience for these albums. That is kind of amazing.

I actually enjoyed a good portion of the recent, similar tribute "Still Wish You Were Here". Ultimately I end up going back to the original and best versions of these albums but some of these tributes offer an unobtrusive treatment of great material.

I really enjoyed the Kerzner Yes tribute record for example. Very true to the great original songs but some fresh twists here and there.

Actually enjoying these, just another excuse to listen to the great music with a different slant. Almost treat these as if they were extra tracks on expanded versions. Granted not all of them are the same level but given a pedigree of musicians here do not think will be disappointed.
Already looking forward to the future release of a deluxe remaster of the original, so this should be a great "appetizer".

As far as covers go, the artist needs to find a way to make it unique. I really enjoy Stanley Whitaker’s Under the Progwood Tree. Just acoustic guitar (very well played) and voice.

Maybe this uptick in Tribute albums by various musicians is a way to supplement the income of musicians who are out of work and not touring due to the Pandemic.
If so, I think it's a creative and useful thing to help these folks out, but it's still not something I'm interested in.

Maybe 20 years ago, but releasing albums isn't particularly profitable these days. Touring and merch are pretty much where it's at.

I never got into the tribute album thing. I think the first one I took note of was a Rush tribute - I think it was called Working Man. It just seems kind of pointless unless the artists are doing something very different from the original versions.

The thread about the upcoming Animals "tribute" release prompted me to pull out Claypool's live cover of the entire album. While the performance must have been a blast to see, the whole thing is far too faithful to the original album to make for compelling home listening. The same definitely cannot be said of Impulse's extraordinary and adventurous 21st century reimagining of Sgt Pepper. All the musicians take radical approaches, and some tracks have been so drastically reworked that it’s hard to find the connection to the original song. Mary Halverson's take on "With a Little Help from My Friends" is truly warped.

Thanks, I didn’t know about this one at all! It’s up next on Spotify - if I like it, I’ll buy it. As for the Purple Pyramid ones, I’m glad all those great musos (and Billy Sherwood) make good money from them, but I’m happy to listen once and move on.

It’s hard to think of a concept album where the involvement of some of the original creative forces isn’t necessary for the concept part to really work, unless maybe live on stage where a little theatrics can go a long way. Like, Tommy or Quadrophenia without Daltry? No thanks. Much better to throw a song into your live shows where it can be a palate cleanser.
