You’re going to want to fondle it through the shrink wrap for a day or so. It’s a great Sunday morning album - unwrap it then. Saturday night, tell it it will look great with its wrapping crumpled on the floor.

Release date last Friday.....at my front door on the West Coast Monday afternoon. The USPS delivered from KY to WA over the weekend! Credit where credit is due.

    My evening is now occupied.

Fondling lasted about 10 seconds and the wrapper was off!

Mine’s in Media Mail purgatory. Should arrive tomorrow, but it’s annoying how willingly USPS let’s Media Mail packages just hang out at some other post office.

2/3 through the booklet. It’s mostly the format from the 2013 edition but they make clear the updates in this 50th edition so it’s not just a reprint of the former. There’s an interview with Terry Ellis I’ve just perused….his reply to the firing of Glenn Cornick was “I’m the Manager, It was just my job.” Is there Any indication he wasn’t always a prick? There was a question about Mick’s leaving but I need to go back. Interview with Robin Black was amusing….didn’t know he accidentally stepped on one of Ian’s Martin acoustic guitars in the studio.

Another Ian recollection…..early days….Ian & Glenn shared hotel rooms because “Martin & Clive forged an immediate Bedroom Bond”.

Also mentioned….John Evan was unavailable for interviews?!??

More reading and listening to do….

    Oh…..and for something Completely Different:

Was on Amazon this AM and was directed to the last Gentle Giant Boxset…. New & Used…..$1,200 to $1,700 !

Perhaps... but in my case, it's starkly different. Had forgotten about this release until this thread floated up top on Thurs. morning. So I ordered up a copy from our man in Voorhees N.J. and had it in hand on Sat. morning. Coast to coast in 2 days via media mail fwiw.

Oh yeah, good concert footage with this one too!

John Evan seemed for some time not to look back on his Tull years with fondness (although I think the Aqualung box had some quotes from him). It was a pleasant surprise when he showed up on video in Ian's 2018 shows.

Going to buy it this afternoon. It s still on nice price in my favorite prog shop. It,s my favourite box format and ti like that they stick to DVD

Is there any discussion in the booklet about the "editing" of Clive's solo from the Tanglewood show? Close to ten min.(!) has been sniped!
(seems that Ian isn't fond of *lengthy drum solos*!

Yes, it's mentioned, and the implication is that Clive agreed it wasn't one of his best. Not sure if this means he was formally asked. In any case, if 10 minutes were really left out, that's fine by me. I have little time for drum solos as a rule.

Sounds pretty slutty for a 50 year old.

You guys had me scared there for a minute. I am a completist with regards to shows; I want to hear every note, grunt, chit chat, five minutes of pre-encore applause, etc. So I'm glad the whole drum solo is on the DVD. It's probably 7 or 8 minutes that's been cut from the CD. The DVD is the main reason I bought the set and it is well worth the $50. AFAICT 100% of the show is on there, from opening tuning notes to final applause. The definitive live 1970 Tull document. It made me feel like I was there.

My copy has entered the point where it’s gone from being due to arrive a few days ago to it hasn’t been scanned in a few days and USPS admits they don’t know where it is or might be arriving. All I know is it’s probably not more than a 15-minute drive away and they can’t be arsed.

Everything's ok now folks, my copy arrived! You can all rest easy now. USPS has covered their tracks, too, by revising the tracking history. Sheesh!

Thanks for correcting me. I actually stopped watching the DVD as the drum solo began and planned to resume later. I assumed the same edit was on the DVD as on the CD.

The Shed gave me a shipping notice on the 1st, but I have no idea how to track it. If it comes via USPS, I'll probably only get notified the day of delivery in my USPS Informed Delivery daily digest that I'm signed up for, a service that for me mostly e-mails me pictures of what's going to end up under the parrot the following day.

I sold a concert programme on eBay to a chap in Chicago. It took four days to get from the UK to the US, and four weeks to get to his house.

I’ve never seen a Royal Mail package listed in Informed Delivery, even though the USPS does bring them. The lack of tracking and the ridiculous price of overseas shipping is why I try to order everything I can from The Band Wagon, LaserCD, or ImportCD. Domestic shipping prices, plus built-in tracking.

My copy was shipped from Louisville KY to Pittsburgh PA on Tuesday the 9th--not an ideal start since I'm in California--and has been sitting there ever since. Somebody must be fondling it.

Sounds very familiar! It'll probably just show up one day.

Arrived today. Shrinkwrap off, fondling protocol enabled. The photo of Ian on the title page (in chair with ciggie) is worth the price alone.

Isn’t there a photo shoot of the band Chicago around the same time in that same pose?
