The Connells - Steadman's Wake (1st new album in 20 years)

Any fans of North Carolina alt rockers The Connells here? The band will drop their first new album in 20 years tomorrow, entitled "Steadman's Wake." If you liked them back in the early to mid 90s, you'll probably like the new album.

I reviewed it in my latest MRC newsletter.

    Video interview with Mike Connell:

The podcast version of the interview on Michael's Record Collection (Episode 30) includes snippets of the new songs. It's available on most pod platforms, if that's your thing.

My brother who was into alternative before it was called that liked them. Other than the 74-75 song I don't know much about them myself.I always thought that was a good song though.

That's on Ring (1993). It's one of my favorite albums of the 90s.

Since day one. Saw them once with Tommy Keene, it was great. One Simple Word gets alot of rotation here as do Fun and Games and Boylan Heights.
The older I get, the better I was.

74-75 was good but I really didn’t connect all that much with Ring.

Love these guys but they'd fallen off my radar for a few years. I just recently bought their Best Of called "Stone Cold Yesterday" and rediscovered how many really good songs with memorable hooks they've produced.

I find that interesting, because to me '74-'75 wasn't a far cry from Disappointed and New Boy from that record.

I know what you mean but like Headcrash said, I may have started to drift away a bit.
