Phil Collins ‘I can barely hold a drumstick’

Sad to see, and something that only serves to underscore the incredible powerhouse drummer this genius once was:

After reading that "tabloid" article, Phil seems to be in worse shape than even I imagined. Maybe he should throw in the towel at this point, find a nice villa in Spain, sit back and enjoy the remainder of his days. If he has been half-way careful with his money, he should be able to live comfortably for at least another 50 years. 🤔

When you have been as good as a drummer as he really really was. The obvious decline in ability caused by mortality would be hard to come to terms with. Other musicians eg guitarists, and keys and horns can at least reinvent themselves playing slower pieces. Not so much an option with percussion.

Coincidentally, I just received his biography in the mail today. Looking forward to reading it.

    This is really offensive. Extremely.

    Yeah, agree. Tasteless.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

Oh, BobM is a good cat. As a purveyor of the occasional bad joke, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

    Very sad to hear.

Incidentally, please think twice about giving any traffic to the Daily Mail web site. It's a hateful, xenophobic rag which is playing its part in the increasingly rapid destruction of everything that was worthwhile in the so-called United Kingdom.

For context: it IS sad. It's also not quite a revelation. Almost exactly 11 years ago Collins mentioned having to tape drumsticks to his hands when trying to play on "Going Back."

His health issues have clearly nudged his aging ahead of his bandmates (he's younger than Banks) and compared to his other peers such as the gents in King Crimson, the difference IS stark. Hopefully the reduced strain of the upcoming tour (sitting for the most part each night) will help him maintain his strength.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

In Mr. Fripp's case, his more youthful appearance is maintained by chasing his hot wife around their mansion on a daily basis. On the other hand, Tony Levin is an alien and does not age. 😉
