I think my favorite part of the box is the reproduction of tape reels on each disc -- each historically accurate, and maybe even the real reels who knows. I think Wendy Carlos did that with her boxed set too.

They are the real reels, with trademarks removed....

hey - this is an actual email I got in the last 30 minutes completely unsolicited and unexpected. It sure was nice to read!

"Hey Steve, Just want to say thank you for putting together The Muffins box. I've completely immersed myself in this over the past few days. It's been incredible. I wish I had discovered this group much sooner. It feels like 12 discs went by in the blink of an eye! It's obvious that a lot of thought and care went into this set. So again, thank you very much. That is all."

Just opened mine. It looks beautiful.
I haven't played any of it yet since I have no CD drive on my work machine.
I know what I'm doing tonight!

While The Muffins are a hot topic at the moment, why has there not been any discussion about "Angels And Demons That Play", Paul Sears' highly entertaining autobiography? Or was there a thread about it that l missed?

My memory says "yes" but i cannot find it. So... you should feel free to open a lengthy and detailed discussion of this great GREAT book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeping Time With Paul
Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2020
Richard Sinclair has been the singer in almost all of my favorite bands, and Paul Sears has been the drummer in almost all of my other favorite bands. Yet so far as I know, they've never played together.

Paul is nothing if not versatile, playing everything from jazz-rock to post-punk, and by all accounts he's one of the hardest-working drummers on the circuit. He's not above schlepping equipment in & out of clubs, and in a pinch he'll do the house mix too. Versatile.

Also funny. His book is full of revealing anecdotes, funny asides, self-deprecating humor and wordplay. At times the "asides" threaten to take over the narrative, which -- although he says it is "mostly chronological" -- jumps around in time and subject matter rather kaleidoscopically. He also "gives the floor" over to several associates for long personal perspectives, which are not separated out from Paul's own reflections in any way. If Zoot Horn Rollo's book is like having a beer with the man, "Angels & Demons" is like sharing a ride with Paul, returning from a gig at 3 o'clock in the morning still amped up on adrenaline.

Buyer beware: Paul's book will have you shopping for a lot of music you may not have heard of before.

Well, a box of Muffins was on my porch when I got home today! I've already opened it -- lovely packaging and design. I can't wait to dive into disc 1.

I like the photo with the Cosmic Encounter cards - it took me a moment to remember what those things were!

I can't wait to watch the DVD that comes with the Muffins set and hope it doesn't have 70s camera thinking.

I'm watching the Soft Machine face-lift dvd right now, and wonder if camera operators were all high as f*ck back in the 70s, because the video shot decisions always are the stupidest things. Close up on the drummers face, close up on the Sax players face, shot of the bass players back. And then when there is a full shot of the band playing...it zoom into another close up! WTF? It's just the dumbest people operating the cameras!

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate having any video, it's just that I wonder what guidance or direction was given?

Fear not. A good chunk of the trailer features footage from the DVD.

I checked it out again last night and was happy that there were no extreme close-ups😄

I can't spring for this at the moment, but.....gotta have it eventually.

Bandwidth was my first, bought blind after merely reading about the band here, decades ago now.
I now own 9 little slices of Muffins, but I think I need a big box of Muffins at some point.

    Steve, how's the inventory??

It's not yet officially released and I am close to being down to 1/3rd of the pressing left. A good start.

and no, there won't be additional pressings.
