    David Crosby ~ For Free

Croz, now approaching 80, released a beautiful new album this past week.

Every track is strong, memorable, and chock full of catchy hooks & surprising chord changes.

One tune, Rodriguez For A Night was co written by Donald Fagen and could have been on a Steely Dan album.

    Check it out!

Must be because I had the flu for Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
    It increases my paranoia
Like looking into a mirror and seeing a pooo-lice car...

Anyway, it's good to see him doing at least well enough to record some new music and it sounds as if he still has some of that old "magic".

He sounds in very good voice for 80 years old. Reminds me of another Crosby, Bing, who was recording strong vocals until the end.

It's a very good singer/songwriter album. I was looking forward to it ever since they pre-released the duet with Sarah Jarosz, a cover of Joni Mitchell's "For Free," which resonates on several levels and is really beautiful in its own right.

The album has some fine singing and sensitive production. It's really a pleasure to listen to.

His last 3 or 4 albums are the best work of his career, IMHO.

I have enjoyed his past four albums immensely and am really looking forward to this one too. It has been quite a renaissance for Croz and his voice still sounds sublime.

The last one I bought by him was Croz and it is very good. I'll have to check into more of his catalogue, and the new one, thanks.

I'm listening to it now. It's great. Truly amazing given his age.

Man, back in the 80s I never would have imagined he'd make it to (almost) 80, much less still be making quality recordings. Good for him!

I like "Here if you Listen" a little bit better than the new one, but I haven't spent enough time with it. It's very good, though, and Crosby's voice is velvety smooth. Really remarkable.

That was a pleasure to watch. What are David's top recent albums (outside of this one)?

Crosby's been doing the Steely Dan thing since the band with his son CPR in the 90's. Nice that he's able to get Fagen on board.
