Goose
Any love here for the Goose?
Been listening to these a lot on these warm summer evenings. Seem like a Grateful Dead for millenials, huge live fanbase, make a good income from uploading advertising heavy, hi quality videos of all of their shows.
I don't hear much Dead in the music, some Steely Dan, Santana, a bit of Phish in the (long, long) Jam sections. They get compared to Phish a lot but I think their songs are a lot stronger. Some wonderful choices of cover versions dropped in there too. The gigs look like a great party and I'd probably follow them around if they came to Europe, I've been looking for an excuse to quit my job for a while!
Their Youtube channel is here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNM...kCrjRImbUiQ3ZA with a bunch of shows to enjoy in super HD
I'd be interested to see what you thought of them. Not prog really, but the Dan and the Dead get discussed on here and they're more proggy than them!

Love em, I have several of their releases. I'd love to see them, but haven't heard of any shows near me

Love Goose! Definitely more proggy than the Grateful Dead. If you get a chance to go to a gig now that concerts are starting to come back, don't hesitate. I think their music and jam style will appeal to a lot of progressive rock fans. Of all the so-called 'jam' bands since the heyday of the Grateful Dead, only Phish and Goose really appeal to me.

Thanks for posting. I'd never heard of them, but checked out one track so far on YT, and it was excellent. More investigation forthcoming.

Wow. This band was all new to me and what a joyous surprise. I love them! Thanks for leading me to them... What a find!!

I like their live output and they can jam well and are obviously very talented players. I'm not sure I like their compositions nearly as much as, say, vintage Umphrey's McGee or Dopapod though. Again, very talented and I get the appeal and the success they are having.

Goose of the day! Starts of like "Easy" by the Commodores and then goes cosmic then super slinky funk! https://youtu.be/QiUmx6JbDDs

^^^ Thanks for posting. I watched/listened to about 45 minutes of the show. These guys have chops out the wazoo. Very impressive in that regard. I wish they would get a little jazzy or at least a little greasy. Their jams go down so easy I can't remember anything about them. They could be a great fusion band if they were more harmonically inventive, though I suspect they might lose 80% of their audience if they did!

I'm guessing this isn't the Goose from Belgium that used to be an AC/DC cover band, is heavily electronic and won the TMF Award for Best National Alternative Act?
Having lived in the SF Bay Area my entire life, I have a knee-jerk gag-reflex at anything remotely resembling the Dead (dear gawd I've been to half a dozen of their shows) including Phish. But hey, Umphrey's has its moments, so maybe I'll give it a go.
