New album from Jon Anderson - Sunlight

Jon apparently has a new album out called Sunlight on the Firstcom/EVO label, which specializes in music licensing.

Edit: Looks like all of the Youtube links for this album have been removed.

The entire album can be streamed here: https://www.firstcom.com/en-us/explo...27202/sunlight

That site claims that it is not available for sale, but you can purchase the tracks via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0998K8DPX/
Edit: the Amazon link is now gone also.

Seems like pretty typical Anderson stuff.

This is quite a diverse batch of song-lets. Maybe Henry can weigh in, but I'm wondering if this is Jon clearing out some of those Internet collaborations he's talked about so often. For example, the bass on "Sleep" is conspicuously Squire-ish, but I'm pretty sure it's not Chris or Jon playing it.

And is Jon's voice actually getting higher as he gets older?

I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

Firstcom is a production music (TV/film) company. Look for Jon on the soundtrack of the next season of The Mandalorian!

Jon actually just posted on his Facebook page:

'SUNLIGHT' is not a solo album...FYI....it's music I made with a close friend for the Universal music library ...production music created for movies, advertising and other avenues...not a solo album...best wishes to everyone everywhere..love and 'light' Brother Jon🙏”

I've only listened the first song so far. Sounds perfectly decent. Jon is such an excellent vocalist (and an elf!).
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

Thanks for the steaming link. I made my way through all or part of every song. Don't like the ambient chanting songs but when Jon uses his natural vocal talents, it's quite pleasant.

It's funny so many people refer to Jon as an elf. My brother used to refer to him as "the cosmic elf." Anyway, I like pretty much anything Jon has done so I'll check this out and chime in later.

I’ve thought that for awhile now. Eventually only dogs will be able to hear him sing.

We should all be so lucky at his age, God bless him.

Clearly it wasn’t an “album” that Jon and/or the label wanted out there to the masses. As is the case for most of FirstCom/EVO’s releases, the music is intended for licensing to movies/productions. It seems that once word got out about the release on here, Facebook, and other spots on the web, it was shut down. Other releases (such as this 2021 release from Jonathan Elias) from that label are still up and available, however.

Back in high school, my friends thought Anderson sounded like an elf or a castrato.

That Firstcom site is very similar to this site and there's a similar roster of artists on both. (Anthony Phillips, for one). I asked once if there was any way for fans to buy their offerings and was told no, they're only licensed to production companies, etc.

I worked for a production company in the mid to late 90's and we had a FirstCom license. FirstCom was an upstart based in Dallas (rather than New York, LA or London) Compared to our older package (DeWolfe) FirstCom was pretty cool & hip for the time. At one point, they even released a set of disks from Thomas Dolby. Looks like Universal must have scooped them up as new property.

I just listened to the Dolby Headspace tracks on their site (the Anderson tracks are up to listen to, too) and they're pretty fun.

    I don't think so.

See my blog for the full story of the album... or as full as we currently have: http://bondegezou.blogspot.com/2021/...son-white.html
