I need to revisit that one. Only heard it a couple times maybe, but it felt a little bit disappointing after Now We Have Light -- which I thought was phenomenal and was one of my favorites from 2015.

Their most recent one was great though! Love these guys.

Marillion - An Hour Before It's Dark (a good distraction from the Hawkwind BBC Sessions box I have been dawdling on reviewing )

It definitely seems to have fewer highlights than Now We Have Light. It seems to be my least favorite of theirs, but I could use some more listens too. It's probably good they finished with that dark, Seussian-fantasy storyline.

George Crumb: Voice of the Whale/Night of the Four Moons
    Gene Ammons: Angel Eyes
    Sonny Sharrock: Ask the Ages
    T. Viswanathan/L. Shankar/T. Ranganathan: Pallavi/South Indian Flute Music (Nonesuch Explorer Series)
    Shirley Scott: Satin Doll
Charles Mingus: Mingus at Carnegie Hall
John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers: Crusade
Stomu Yamash'ta's East Wind: One by One

There is a bit in Voice of the Whale where Crumb parodies the timpani part from the intro of Also Sprach Zarathustra. But it also strikes me a quite reminiscent of part of "Karn Evil 9 (Second Impression)."

For sure. I only just got the newest one a few days ago, and it's a killer! I might have to revise my "best of 2021" list now.

    Wow, and wow!

It's not often the darkest and most dense record they made is the first one to 'click'. How refreshingly odd! (It's my favourite too.)
