New Lifeson Tracks?
the first one sounds like Gilmour, the second like mellower Satriani, neither one sounds much like Alex, but then again they're just snippets so i'd like to hear more.

I like both.
Yep. Me too. Great groove, and I even like the rap/scat/spoken word/soliloquy.
I dragged my GF to their final Philly show, and while I was marveling at all of the semi trucks lined up in the parking lot, she remarks, "I guess there won't be a line for the ladies' room tonight."
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Oh, I disagree. They could lick one boot each, at least. "La Villa Stragiato", now, they'd have trouble with...
I've never heard either of them before (unless one of them is on the utterly-forgettable Rush in Rio), so I listened to the live versions. They've both got a good groove, they're both energetic (those guys always gave everything they had on the stage), but I have to give the edge to "Where's...". Despite the long drum solo, it's more of a band song, and better composition - the parts flow together better.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
Malignant Narcissism is also an interesting instrumental. Not as good as La Villa or YYZ by any means, but it's still a great piece in and of itself. It's interesting to hear Geddy playing a fretless, and the basswork is just phenomenal.
"Malignant Narcissism" and "The Main Monkey Business" are the highlights of Snakes & Arrows. The rest of the album has some good material, but strangely, I wasn't bowled over. It's not as good as Vapor Trails or Clockwork Angels.
Agreed. Personally for me, Clockwork Angels and Vapor Trails (the remixed version) trump anything they did after about 1985, except maybe a couple of tracks on Presto.
I can't get into Hold Your Fire for some reason. I've listened to it in full several times and it just hasn't 'clicked' with me.
Do you know who else is a Rush fan? It's Olivia, the Lego Friends character: https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/o...ing-cube-41667 (select the fifth picture down for a clearer picture of her poster).

New interview!
Thanks. They start with discussion about the new guitar. He starts talking about recording new material at 5:50. He describes having written "about half a dozen songs" some years ago that includes the two new pieces on his website. At 7:25, he moves on to the new project with Curran: "we've basically done an album's worth of material" that they hope to release soon. Then it all gets very gear-y again. I'm not a guitarist -- I understand it goes twang when you pluck it -- so I skipped bits, but lovely to see Lifeson looking happy, engaged and productive.
Oh, then 18:14, they get back to discussing the project with Curran and when it will be released: "All the music is recorded. We're mixing currently. [...] late summer/early fall, we might have something."

Looks like Alex now has a YouTube channel. Only two vids but obviously he's setting up something here to build on.
