    I have 'The Birth of Surf" volumes 1+2. Both are excellent introductions to the genre.

    Views on how the electric guitar in jazz in the 30s and 40s, e.g. Charlie Christian, had any noticeable effect on youngsters who later on would be rockers in the 50s, albeit initially still only with acoustic axes? Or was the juiced ax in jazz only a sidebar whose effect basically stayed within jazz and avant-garde in the 40s?
