    Black Midi

    Really highly impressed with these young lads. I'm getting Pere Ubu... Talking Heads... Mahavishnu... Crimson... fuck knows what else, but they're great. Mind bending modern prog with math rock tendencies and demented vocals, this is extremely my thing.

    They have a new album out soon and their first one Schlagenheim is worth diving into as a primer.

    Did i mention they're really young?

    The newest video is pretty cool.

    About the vocals: I can’t tell if they’re in Japanese or English! I THINK English, though I can only make out a few words.

    Okay, that is interesting. Sort of got a Devo/Talking Heads crossed with Bad Brains and Meshuggah kind of vibes, but I dug it. :-)
    I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.

    I am so tired of these guys releasing a single every month since February. I want to hear the whole album now! I truly liked Schlagenheim (or whatever it's called).

    Can't wait for the album, the singles are very tasty.
    Have a ticket for a show in September, hope it will happen...

    Really looking forward to this one. I don't think that I've heard anything else quite like this band, and that's a good thing.

    Amazingballs!

    The Bungle is also strong within them, I'd say…
    τί ἐστιν ὃ μίαν ἔχον φωνὴν τετράπουν καὶ δίπουν καὶ τρίπουν γίνεται;

    εἰσί κασίγνηται δισσαὶ, ὠν ἡ μία τίκτει
    τὴν ἑτέραν αὐτὴ δέ τεκοῦσ` ὑπό τὴσδη τεκνούται
    τίς δὲ κασίγνηται δύο;

    Thanks. Based on what I'd previously heard, I've already ordered it on bandcamp. Let the games begin!

    Great band. Great album.

    (Although right now I prefer the debut.)

    If you guys dig this then you REALLY need to check out the new album from Squid (sorry Dave Kerzner!) and their new album "Bright Green Field." Also very Talking Heads but replace the King Crimson vibe with Can and The Fall and you kinda get the idea...

    I've tried the Squid album twice. I love the music, but am having difficulty coping with the B52's style vocals. An awkward fit to this kind of music...IMO.

    Cavalcade is awesome

    Alongside bm and Squid, Black Country, New Road are another of these young brit post-punk/rock, prog etc. bands worth checking out with a debut from this year
    Edit: I see they were mentioned earlier https://blackcountrynewroad.bandcamp...the-first-time

    Glad to see these guys getting some love. I haven't had time to give this a proper listen yet, but from what i can tell it's more refined and eclectic than the first album while retaining the wonkiness and batshit-ness i've come to expect.

    Can't say i've enjoyed what i've heard of Squid as it sounded a bit 'early 80's New Wave/Post-Punk by numbers' to my jaded ears, but i'll try their new record after the mentions they've been getting in here.

    Same here, obsessed definitely describes it.

    Because it's so good to listen to REAL new bands, which have ideas of their own and are relevant today. And we kind of missed that.

    Got the vinyl with a bonus flexi disc with a version of 21st CSM - turns out there was a poll and 5 songs were chosen, here are 2:
