New to synths, this is my progress so far...

Just under a year ago I decided to pick up a new hobby (during the pandemic) and I purchased a second hand synth - a Moog Mother 32. I had never really played an instrument before but I have really enjoyed exploring my creative side with these amazing machines (I bought another recently - the Moog Subharmonicon). I thought it was time to post some of the things I've been working on.

These are experimental electronic soundscapes, very much influenced by German electronic music from the 70s and sci-fi/horror movie soundtracks. I'm open to feedback but try not to judge too harshly. I thought this might be a good environment to post this. Anyway, I'll continue to post new pieces from time to time.... It's a learning process. As Frank Zappa said... "music is the best"

In the words of Bill and Ted "most excellent!
Wonderful soundscape, allowing the listener to visualize the stormclouds on Saturn.
For never having played an instrument before, you have a natural talent to find textures and ambience in the creation of a soundscape.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I also have nothing negative to say. In fact it's better than some professional pieces I've heard, because you kept things minimal instead of feeling the need to add track after track.
Keep up the good work, will look forward to hearing more from you. You've got talent, keep sharing.

Ahh well thanks again, that's great.
I'm mainly using a lot of Valhalla Supermassive and have just recently begun to use Valhalla Freq Echo. I can't recall the rest now but they would just be generic Logic plugins.

Thank you so much Top Cat! That's very high praise and very much appreciated. Sometimes you never really know what others are going to think of something you create and a few of my friends didn't really get it. So it's nice to know someone did! haha

Very cool...big fan of the Valhalla products. I use Shimmer extensively, but also have Freq Echo, Supermassive and Vintage Verb (possibly another one that's slipping my mind at the moment). Excellent bang for the buck.

Great stuff, Cygnus! Nicely restrained, but I really noticed the sounds of thunder and rain before even realizing that the title had "Stormclouds" in it. Congrats on the Mother 32 and Subharmonicon. Those are fantastic units, I really dig that Moog semi-modular environment.

Thanks Mr T, appreciate the kind words. Yes there are so many possibilities with these wonderful machines. It's really allowed me to open up creatively in a way I haven't before. I guess 40 odd years of listening to music has helped
