They'd have to add a Wascally on the front. Then Snyder can try to Copyright WWW and through the entire internet into a tizzy.
Duncan's going to make a Horns Emoticon!!!

About 18 months ago, the Creative Director at the company I do business with was trying to pitch re-brands to an insider. At that time, the popular names were the Red Wolves and the Warriors. I'm not sure if those are still in the running.

Both Wolves and Red Wolves have been removed from consideration, reportedly due to copyright issues.

    Ahh thanks.

I'd give Snyder some props if he just changed the team name officially to Washington Team Football and be done with it.

Washington Football Team is so bland and unimaginative. Come up with a real name. I know its popular in the other football to just be the football club, but the nfl is better than that.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

    We have nicknames in 'soccer'

    Newcastle United - The Magpies
    Arsenal - The Gunners
    Everton - The Toffees
    Crystal Palace - The Eagles
    Leicester - The Foxes
    Manchester City - The Citizens

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Interesting. I'm not sure I've ever heard of the gunners or citizens despite hearing the names Arsenel and Manchester City before. But I'm obviously not a soccer fan.

I also definitely recall seeing *insert city name* FC around alot.

And now that I'm looking at the MLS, I see 13 current teams that either begin or end with 'football club' (and one 'soccer club'). So I think my point stands.

^Yeah, I’m glad we got a MLS club here in CLT now. I’m looking forward to going to some games. I’ll probably buy a kit (I believe is the correct term). I like the colors.

But anything besides Charlotte FC would’ve been better.

They could merge the WFT and the Ravens, and call them DC United.

Which one is Steve Harris' fave team, where they got the Up The Iron's idea? I know so little of those leagues and teams over there so forgive my ignorance.

I actually like it, a bit of soccer team names in there with the football team. I'd be cool with Washington FC. Heck, everything I've heard as a potential name pretty much sucked so go with something completely non-offensive and be done with it. Still not excited about the Cleveland Guardians in MLB but they do have the statues so I'll go with it even though they really should have gone with the Negro League Cleveland Spiders. How great would that PR be and the name is cool, think of the merch.

The team is so very lucky the NFL isn't going to release any info on the investigation that got Gruden fired so they should just count their blessings and go with something so non-offensive they can't catch any grief and they could use some good PR.

You say the NFL is better than that in terms of team names, well, how about the Browns? Sure, it was a revolutionary dude but come on, Browns and their lame colors are, well, lame. Don't get me started on the Jets and their puke green uni's. I also don't think there's going to be any raiding going on from Las Vegas, kinda hard to raid when there's only a fast dwindling lake here.

At least it's not the NBA with the Jazz in, UTAH????? Sorry, I ain't buying anyone in Utah listening to jazz. Tabernacle Choir, sure but I don't see the Mormons be-bopping to Charlie Parker. Although, it's really based upon NOLA jazz, a little more down to earth but still, that ain't a Utah music thang.

Steve Harris supports West Ham United - who are nicknamed "The Hammers" although they can also be know as "The Irons".

The team was originally called Thames Ironworks FC (lots of early teams were works teams) thus Hammers and Irons.

Yes, that's why it would be funny.

They should have renamed them the Washington Insurrectionists and announced it today. Missed PR opportunity.
