My new song and video Bethany's Song

    Written/Recorded from March 11, 2021-April 12, 2021.
NOT PROG ALERT! NOT PROG ALERT! NOT PROG ALERT!

Bethany's Song is the story of a young woman who leaves home to pursue her dream of becoming famous and be a star.
I'm including the video in this post along with the Soundcloud version.
I'm also posting the lyrics at the bottom of this post for those who like to have them available.
Hope you enjoy, and thanks for listening.

    and the video:

    Bethany was beautiful
with a smile like the sun
    she danced before her mirror
    and dreamed of being one
    limousines and videos
    and parties with the stars
I'll be a star, my name in lights
and everyone will know who I am
    ah ah ah goodbye
    bye
know I love you but I have to go
pack my bags and hit the road
    I'm free

    She took the train
    met a girl named Doris
"it's ok honey nobody says the truth"
"know that it's just a game
    don't fall through it
it's all so phony, every word they say
    be yourself and don't"
    yeah money, making the prize
Aston wants to make a movie, never made a curtain call
no one there to hear him fall....oh no!
Ami took me to a party
    met some friends and insiders
    maybe we'll get lucky
Bobby said he was an agent
"like the look, but we'll redo you"
telling everyone, everyone you know.."she's smart money"
just wanna say oh, oh no no
    heart still pounding
    everybody takes somebody
    taking the prize

    I feel strange
    and I should go
I keep looking at the world I know

    I'm coming home

This is a really decent song, well done.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

Hey Rich! Thanks as always for sharing Nice track, lovely video, definitely touches of Genesis and the subject matter also reminds me of Kevin Gilbert's Shaming of the True
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

hey mozo, thank you for your continued support, for listening and commenting, and positive feedback. It means a lot to me when you work hard on a project and someone enjoys it, as well as take time to leave a comment.

JOHN...once again you make my day! Always appreciate seeing your comments up on the board here, and know they are real, and not just blowing smoke up the chimney. lol
I'm a latecomer to Kevin Gilbert, and really only discovered his music from Dave Kerzner talking about his time being in his band.
Of course my first search of his music was the Live Lamb, and for me, it is one of the best performances of it, and I saw Genesis perform it live when the album was released.
I'm not familiar with the Shaming of the True, will do some research on it.

This song went through quite a few drafts while writing the lyrics, and for awhile it was much darker, but in the end, it didn't feel right.
It's funny, often when creating a project, a song will kind of guide you along the way, and when characters are involved, they almost come alive and need their voices heard.

    This was one of those.
