No take backs implied, but I was listening to Frank Wyatt & Friends Zeitgeist this afternoon.
That album gives me comfort, both in the fact that it is a, nice and extremely well produced musically and that Frank was able to complete the project.

Nostalgia, you know, ain't what it used to be. Furthermore, they tells me, it never was.

Ragnarok Fjarilar i Magen fits the bill at least sometimes, also Can Future Days...sorry, that's two.

Bloody Well Right!!
That's definitely a prime suspect with me.
Yikes, have I been that contagious??
I've been vilified in PE2.0 for always providing more than what's asked , but never really understood how that could be frustrating some. But it's the fact that asking for a limit on a list has always bothered me me a bit ... I mean why a top 100, and not a top 107?
I guess early Caravan, or early Harmonium would be my comfort/refuge choices if i'm down.

my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
echolyn's Cowboy Poems Free works every time for me.
So do Close to the Edge and Going For The One.
For me it's Places Unseen by Cirrus Bay. Wonderful modern progressive rock album that really takes you to Places Unseen! I love it.
This year's Halcyon Hymns is quickly becoming a 'comfort' favorite as well.
^ Haven't seen Bill post here in ages.

Happy the man/st or Crafty Hands both are very surreal and cerebral to me.
Well said. There's nothing like the harsh grandeur of early Djam Karet to draw out anger, like draining venom.
I took "comfort" to mean, when I lack the energy to put on anything unfamiliar or challenging, but still want something worth listening to. A couple people said Wind and Wuthering, which is a great choice. Or Turn of a Friendly Card, or the wonderful Blomljud.

Zappa - Over-Nite Sensation is a good choice.
