From the latest edition of A New Day magazine:
“Yes - it will be presented as a new Jethro Tull album as three of the band have been with me for 10 to 15 years and performed at various points as Jethro Tull. So a whole lot longer than most of the Tull band line-ups and musicians. I think they have earned their stripes. The title is The Zealot Gene and (the songs are) included in the Silent Singing lyric book. I have more or less completed 7 full band tracks now and the remainder are basically lightly-dressed acoustic pieces. Hopefully for release later this year but before the Broadsword box set which we are working on now for 2022.” - Ian Anderson.

It must be above, but who are the two other members to which he refers?
Keyboard and bass - they've been part of his touring band for a while and if I remember correctly were on the last couple of albums recorded under his name.
There have been some different drummers come and go (including his son James) and Florian Opahle left a while ago and has been replaced by a new guitar player.
John O'Hara (keys), David Goodier (bass), and Scott Hammond (drums) have all been with Ian for over 10 years now, whether billed as Tull or the Ian Anderson Band. By 2010, when Jethro Tull still existed as a separate entity (with Martin and [usually] Doane), Ian was also doing "solo" concerts with the Anderson/Opahle/Goodier/O'Hara/Hammond lineup--the exact same lineup he had the last time I saw them under the Jethro Tull moniker.

I wish I could get excited over this, but for the obvious reason it's difficult to. I do like the mention of "dressed-up" acoustic pieces.
Y'know, Ian could sort all this out by just having his name changed legally to Jethro Tull.
For anyone who might prefer something a little (or a lot) more like the Ian of the old days, I highly recommend checking out this album, which I recently reviewed. Quite impressive, I've been spinning it way more than I thought I would!

I’ve always hated when bands try to sound like other bands for popularity. Didn’t know what you were talking about with this but listened to the samples. This does sound like a lost Tull album from the 70’s. It is well done and I like what I hear but I don’t know if I could get past the obvious plagiarism. Thanks for bringing this up though. I wish Ian would make compelling music like this again. I’m hoping the new album is worthy of the Tull moniker being placed in it.
Tell me Jobson guests?! With a title like that....
Kind of misleading to put a Tull-like band review Inside an Upcoming Ian Anderson release. This should have had it's own thread. IMHO YMMV etc.

Just to back up Garyhead a bit, I rushed to hit that link because I thought it was your review of Ian’s new album.
But I don’t give a fuck either! I’d already sampled this other album on Bandcamp, but I was a bit put off by the pilferage. But whatever - Ian probably doesn’t care.
I posted a link to something I wrote, in a thread that I started, that I thought might interest Tull fans who seem put off by the weakened modern Tull sound. Being that Ian's album isn't even finished, it didn't occur to me that anyone would think that's what I was talking about. Either way, I'm tired of complaints about the pissiest things here, like what should go where and why. This is music I thought would interest the kind of people who would read this thread, so I made an effort to get it heard.
As for Ian caring, I doubt it too, since he allowed the singer to perform with Tull, as evidenced by the YouTube link I included in that review. Though I'm sure anyone who was more concerned with where I had the audacity to put this link never bothered to read that far.
Carry on, apologies for wasting everyone's time.

Thank you all for your personal attacks to “fuck off!” It makes internet conversations all the more relevant.

I don't recall saying that even once. I've just double checked, and nope. But my point is that if your only input to someone's effort is to complain about something so incredibly trivial, then by all means follow your own imagined insult. My aim is only to bring attention to something I thought you and others here might like. Like I said, I apologize for wasting your time, and I apologize that I did not take into account the way you specifically would like things to be done around here.

This was announced today:
InsideOutMusic/Sony Music announce the signing of progressive rock legends Jethro Tull to the label. The band has already completed a new album titled The Zealot Gene, which can be expected in early 2022.
Ian Anderson had this to say about the new signing: “After 54 years in the world of music recording, it is with great pleasure that I now sign Jethro Tull to a record company which reminds me, in many ways, of the old Chrysalis label - both as an independent and in its later years in partnership with EMI. Here are real music guys with a passion for the best and most creative in rock music. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship and more releases to come.”
InsideOutMusic Label Manager Thomas Waber states, "Adding Jethro Tull to the roster is an incredible honour for us. The band are true innovators of the genre and we are looking forward to working with them on their new album. We are sure their countless fans will be as excited about it as we are!"
With more than 30 albums to their credit and sales totaling more than 50 million, Jethro Tull are one of the most successful rock bands of all-time with a catalog that contains classics that still resonate today.
