    Wouldn't a pulmonary problem also number his days as a flutist as well ?
    my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

    You would think so, though somehow his flute playing hasn't noticeably worsened at all over the 35+ year period where his singing has gone downhill, at least to my untrained ears.
