    Interview with Andy West of The Dixie Dregs

    Had a great chat with Andy West this weekend. **For Episode #68 Andy West drops by to discuss his most recent musical projects like Five Times Surprise and Zen Walk. We look back on his initial musical inspirations and how he met Steve Morse and created the Dixie Dregs. We take a look at albums and music and walk though a brief history of the band. We also discuss their writing and arranging process, and discuss various pieces and their creation. Andy shares his thoughts on his Modulus, Steinberger and Alembic basses. The work Andy has done with Henry Kaiser and Mike Keneally comes up as well, including their band The Mistakes.

    Nice job Sean, I enjoyed that.

    The first time I saw the Dregs was in 79 with Andy playing the Steinberger.

    It was like WOW, what the hell is that thing!

    Amazing sound and amazing band, thanks for the informative interview

    Caught it. Good interview. I saw the Dregs in Ft. Lauderdale in the early 2000s but it was with Dave LaRue. Never seen Andy play.

    The original lineup of the Dregs were magical back then, although everything Steve was part of since was great.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm a big fan of Andy's whether it's the Dregs, Zazen, The Mistakes, Five Times Surprise or something entirely different. An intelligent, articulate and funny guy with talent to spare. I saw the Dregs reunion tour twice - - they played a rock club in Detroit then came back around opening for Dream Theater.
