Instrumentally, I like what I am hearing; the vocals not so much.

The amusing thing is, in Googling to find an appropriately-snarky comeback, I discovered Algiers IS a reference from Star Trek. Apparently the name of a ship or something. So dammit...that IS kinda/sorta prog

Still no 'trons though, and only 2021 edition Steven Wilson would say nice things about it.

Nun Gun might be of interest to some folks, maybe...an Algiers offshoot that has Ulver "Perdition City" vibes blended with maybe Massive Attack and 70's noir thriller soundtracks (one track also sounds like they sampled Frizzi's score to Zombi, if that's any reference).

We did! They were pretty darn cool, if memory serves (feels like a lifetime ago). Nun Gun is half of Algiers, doing a slightly more noir-ish electronic sound that is still definitely Algiers DNA.

At The Standard, socially conscious themes as I recall.

    Francois Thollot - Happy Lockdown
Elephant 9 - Arrival of the New Elders
Francois Thollot has a new one (!) just released yesterday - go to the Sherzoo page on Bandcamp, it's called Virtually Spring.

That's interesting, the cover art has changed from what's on the physical CD! But it says Mumia, is there different art for each song or something? Maybe Mumia was released as a single - I'm a little confused by this.

About Caligonaut: I was startled to find that the CD sounds, to me, far superior to listening to the album from Bandcamp or Spotify. I never really notice those differences. Then I had the same experience with the new Tusmorke! The Caligonaut is very well recorded and produced. Jacob Holm-Lupo did the mastering. Noticing that then got me into looking at Hans Frederick Froislie's discography. I didn't know that he and Jacob own Termo Records together.

If you're looking for full blown classic symphonic prog then the new Cast "Vigesimus" fits the bill. My personal favorite in this vein is the Noisy Diner's "the Princess of the Allen Keys' which has been mentioned in this thread. I also enjoyed the Artnat "The Mirror Effect" (clever take off on the name Tantra") and If you like the basic light prog ala Camel then maybe the new Lifesigns "Altitude" my be worth listening to.... if you're into the new Kerrs Pink.

I see that ARTNAT is related to the band TANTRA, also from Portugal. Do you know where I can find TANTRA's music? I'm going to listen to ARTNAT...

Have you checked out the new Cosmograf yet? I gave it one listen and it sounded pretty impressive! I, too, look forward to new Jordsjo, Motorpsycho, and Marillion. I HOPE the Marillion comes out in 2021! I won't hold my breath though...

Very happy I picked this up from Wayside. It's pretty fucking rad, even if I'm not entirely sure I understand what the hell is happening.
