    Braves.

Tip of the hat to Charlie Morton for throwing 16 pitches with a broken leg.

Braves look like they have some serious momentum.

I can't believe I'm rooting for a NL team. But, this is where we are.

Interesting article about former GMs Copolella and Luhnow, both of whom are out of baseball (Copolella banned for life; Luhnow too toxic to touch):

    Also:

    Braves.

    (Sorry about all the chopping.)

Bye bye “bullpen?” Hello “arm barn?”

Not gonna lie. “Arm barn” is kinda cool. Stupid but still cool.

So true. Changing the name is dumb. Baseball has been around longer than PETA.

Why not just call it the warm-up pen?

I saw a column about Manfred refusing to "go political" by not addressing the silly tomahawk chop. Little did the columnist realize that he unwittingly exposed the real problem with the issue, like so many others that we face.

    It's not a political issue. It's a moral one.

As long as we continue to frame moral issues as political ones, we will never be able to resolve them.

^Well put. The way I figure it, if you were starting a team today, you’d definitely not include Native imagery or tropes.

Talk about history is pointless. Times change.

And, yes, I say this as someone who is a Braves fan and had most definitely “chopped” at a game.

Not everyone’s opinion has to count—looking at you, arm barn—but the simple dictum of don’t be a dick certainly applies. Give up the “chop,” Braves fans.

If I'm not mistaken, the stadium is accompanying them with music, too, right? So, it's not just the fans, is it? I was hoping the stadium management would do the right thing and ask the fans not to do it. That way, they could say they did the right thing. But, instead, they decided to join them

Afaic, PETA and the NRA might as well be sister organizations. They both take a good premise and drive it straight into the ditch.

^The club will tell you that they no longer start the chop. They no longer have the whistle which starts it (a fan is doing that), and they no longer have a drum crew to initiate it.

But they still have the drum beat (though modified), and they still display a tomahawk on the screens.

They want to eat their cake and also bake the cake and pretend that there is no cake.

There is an obvious solution: the "Atlanta Hammers" is a concpet that checks so many boxes.

    Huh?

Those two organizations couldn't be more different from one another.

Don't they still play the organ during it? I could be mistaken.

I'm talking about the similarity between the organizations current status and their original premises. Which is quite similar.

One organization is committed to protecting living beings. The other is the NRA.

Maybe I'm missing something. What are these similarities?

I'm also missing the relevance to the tomahawk chop controversy.

They're showing game 7 of the 2003 AL playoffs (the best series I've ever seen) on Classic MLB. It's amazing how little Joe Buck and Tim McCarver talked during the game back then.

Last I'll say about it: Imo, both PETA and the NRA are extremist organizations who started out with reasonable positions until they were taken over by their extremist elements. That's the overriding similarity.

It relates to the Arm Barn article posted above (#954,) and not the tomahawk chop. I never related it to the tomahawk chop.

^Pretty sure I implied a connection between the chop and the arm barn. That was my bad.

    Good game last night.

Will the series make it back to Texas, or do the Braves close it tonight?

Unlikely hero Kyle Wright might have cemented a Braves victory with his inningss yesterday. Now the Braves have their 3 remaining starters they can roll out as they see fit.

Looks like they’re going with an armbarn—er, bullpen game tonight. Fried and Anderson would start any games in Houston.

The ‘pen has been lights out (besides Minter’s hiccup against the Dodgers). I just don’t see the Astros coming back.

This was difficult to imagine back in July when the Braves outfield was a mess, and they couldn’t win back to back games.

I've enjoyed the post season and would like to see it extended a game or two. Since I have no dog in this race, I'd rather Atlanta win at Houston. That would taste better to me.

Really? Hmm. Or do you think they will have an opener like yesterday and have Smyly be the "bulk" guy?

^Yes. Something like that. Likely Chavez will open (maybe Minter), and Smyly will pitch 3-4 innings (on a very short leash).
