When this regularly occurs in MLB, they have some serious fixing to do. Not only is this ball at least six inches off the plate, the freaking umpire had his head planted between the catcher and the batter and could not have had a better view of it.

Luckily, Stanton golfed another bomb a few pitches later. The guy is on a freaking tear.

I can't remember a worse year for umpiring. So bad.

15 seconds seems a bit short to me. Maybe 20? Either way, it's desperately needed.

At the MLB level - it's likely 18 or 20 secs if implemented.

I can only imagine how many auto strikes woulda been called on Jeter! [emoji2962]

And no continual stepping out of the box and reajusting equipment every pitch!

I remember Dustin Pedroia would undo the straps on his gloves and then re-tighten them after every pitch...
even if he hadn't swung the bat!

And about half the other players in the league.

But, since you want to single him out, I'm pretty sure he would have easily adjusted to the rule and still made it into the HOF.

I believe they'll be allowed to step out after swinging. Otherwise, they should keep one foot in the box.

I only single him out as the poster boy for the issue. You already know how thousands of little ones "emulate" his style to the detriment of the game in the NYC area.

If those youngsters spent more time emulating his actual work ethic and off field demeanor instead of the ridiculous "ticks" in the box - the game would be better off.

I seem to recall that Nomar Garciaparra was a big violator, as well.

And so many others. Doesn't make it right, just rampant.

But I see pitchers take far more time than batters. Especially in the late innings.

The Phillies could conceivably take the MVP (Bryce Harper) and Cy Young (Zack Wheeler) awards and not make the playoffs.

Not sure that's ever been done before.

    No way.

    Totally normal.

Yep. I was definitely wrong in my pessimism for the Braves and optimism for Riley. Harper should be the MVP. Phillies aren't even sniffing the playoffs without him.

I think I'll tape the game tonight. I haven't watched any of this series because I just can't stay up that late. It'll be nice to watch the Braves clinch their fourth straight NL East tomorrow when I get home for work on Friday.

And, yes, as soon as I say that, I know they're bound to lose.

    Great Wild Card matchups.

O's are tied with Diamondbacks for #1 pick. How does that happen.

    Any predictions?

My only prediction is that it will be unpredictable.

Wow, a -297 run differential for the O's. That's gotta be a record.

Unsurprisingly, the Mets are not picking up the option on manager Luis Rojas.
