    The NL East is weird.

The only difference between losing the world series and finishing with the worst record in baseball is you get the #1 pick in the draft.

Has any other team had two fourteen game losing streaks in one season. Don't tell me the Orioles made history again.

Buster Olney reports that Ohtani could command $50 million/year when he becomes a feee agent in two years:

    https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/sto...ms-los-angeles

(The article is hidden behind a pay wall; I saw Olney report on Outside the Lines.)

They are paying Trout and Rendon somewhere around $75 million/year.

There’s no way they can tie up $125 million for three guys, right? The Angels sure look like they have no idea what they’re doing.

You could argue that Ohtani is "two guys," since he's a great pitcher and hitter. Maybe that would make it more palatable?

He also needs to be consistent in the next two years.

Didn't we just see this movie? It didn't end well.

They could sell $50 million in Ohtani merchandise each year.

Barring a total relapse of skills the Orioles are on their way to the #1 pick.

The Sox figured out a new way to not lose a game: postpone a game due to a hurricane that didn't show up. They can still manage to lose the make-up game tomorrow.

That would be nice of them.

The Atlanta polmicos have a weird quirk in their schedule where they have back-to-back off-days this week.

    And they’re home, too.

That’s got to be some kind of competitive advantage, right?

I would think. Two days off, at this time of the season?

    Very odd.

Should be an interesting two-game series with the Yankees this week.

Agreed. Yankees are starting two left-handed pitchers (Montgomery and Heaney), and the Braves have been hitting lefties very well (though it doesn't show up in the splits that much--of course, the Braves are a much better line-up since the trade deadline).

Look for Albies to ambush the starters at the top of the order. He has a .929 OPS vs. lefties (.749 vs. righties).

And, of course, the Yankees have power up and down their line-up. No place for the Braves starters, Ynoa and Morton, to hide. Losing the DH should help the Braves, and Ynoa can handle the bat well.

    Should be fun!

For the first time in nearly 120 years, two teams carrying winning streaks of nine games or more will face off when the New York Yankees travel to Atlanta to begin a brief two-game series against the Braves.

Well, one streak has to end tonight.

    Go Yanks!!!!

Damn, never would have guessed that. Sorry Braves, you’re done 😁
