I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
Excited!
Auto buy for me.
Sounds interesting
Indifferent. I bought the first when it came out, but I haven't listened to it in years.
I thought they already did a third one. As I recall, it was the second one that was pretty poor, because it didn't include Petrucci. But I can't remember if the first one was good or not. Those things, to me, are kind of like the KC Projekcts - hit or miss depending on what instrumentation they have. I sort of need lead guitars or keyboards most of the time.
I found about 1/3 of each album to be great and the rest disposable. If you have a jam with your band with the intent of seeing what comes up that can be used in songs, you'd go back and pick out that riff at 5:00 as the basis for a song, and that chord progression at 11:30 would make a nice bridge, etc... but most of the jam would be left on the cutting room floor. I see these two albums as the entire jam.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

They seemed highly technical. Not long term keepers.
Portnoy, Petrucici and Rudess working together again. I feel partially responsible for their falling out. Right after the Whirld Tour, on Mike's last tour with DT, I went to the Sam Ash store in Phoenix for his autograph. While all the kids were dressed in DT swag, I handed Mike my Whirlwind CD to sign. He stared at it for a moment, looked up at me to see a guy closer to his age wearing a Spock's Beard shirt, then he signed it. Not long after, the falling out occurred when Mike wanted to take a break from DT, and do other things.

What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)
Looking forward to my review copy... along with the new Transatlantic, looks like I've got quite the barrage of notes heading my way! I'll be enjoying some looser, jazzier stuff in the meantime.
Here's the trailer:

I watched the trailer this morning and realized I no longer need or have the desire to listen to ANYONE play a guitar lead that fast..period!
For me it ceases being music at that point, and becomes a personal challenge in how fast can we play.
I enjoyed the first release.

Had to check my Youtube setting on that sample, thought maybe I had left it on 2X speed from a previous spoken word video...

"Coming round the pole, it's Petrucci in the lead as they head into the back stretch! Followed by Mike Portnoy with Tony Levin close behind! Jordan Rudess brings up the rear and had better make a move soon, or this will get away from him! Here they come into the home stretch! It's going to be a close one!"
