New versions of Squire/White's Run with the Fox

The original version of "Run with the Fox" by Chris Squire and Alan White (and lyrics by Pete Sinfield) is one of my all time favorite songs. I always enjoy it no matter the season. Now two artists have each done a cover of it.

This is new from one of my favorite current British prog bands, I Am The Manic Whale. The song is the first track on their new free release, the "Christmas Selection Box" available on BandCamp. I like this a lot. It stays mostly true to the original, but the guys have some fun with it:

This cover is by Swedish musician Ulrik Arturén. Arturén produced as well as Lead & Backing Vocals, Bass, Drums, Guitars, Moog and Mellotron. He is joined by Torbjörn Carlsson on Piano, Rhodes, Hammond, Strings, Brass and Flute. Again, doesn't stray too far from the original, but I really like his voice on this:

These are both pretty good! A very underrated tune too.

I only heard it once on the radio back when it was released (1981?) when Yes was and still is my favorite band). I immediately recognized Chris Squires’ voice. Then, couldn’t locate a copy.

That is actually Chris Squire singing "A New Pair of Socks!" A fan wrote the lyrics, and Chris asked if he could record them. I can definitely picture Chris doing something like that!

I Am The Manic Whale can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.
