Listening to Daylight Again on YT. It is CSN&Yacht. For 1982 it's damn fine. Great, tight harmonies. Some great songs and a lot of light rock (Yacht).

I NEED A HAND (By Dec 4th) CAN YOU HELP? The big prog rock magazine out of the UK called PROG has a yearly Readers Poll and one of the categories you can vote for is "Prog's Unsung Hero". This is a category for people on the periphery, not artists per se. There are dozens of categories for artists too this year though. Could you drop them a line and vote for me? I think between my musical talk show (SOAL Night Live) and the work I have done for 20+ years at Progressive Ears I should qualify. Send an email to prog@futurenet.com With the subject line "Readers Poll 2020" and then, in the email say- "Please nominate Sean Tonar for Prog's Unsung Hero of the Year". I'd be grateful! Cutoff date is Dec 4th so please hurry and thanks a million!
I was gonna submit Omega Monkey but I have acceded and nominated our Dear Leader.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
hey Yatcht Rock is a catagory on Jeapardy tonight
This cover band which includes Jerry Marrota on drums, fits in the Yacht genre with a Steely Dan vibe.
Apparently, there's quite a bit of yacht rock/prog rock crossover. Here, ZT breaks down three examples:
I think it’s all more properly Dad Rock. It’s no longer a term of derision, you know!
I just listened to the song “Jackie Blue.” I knew the song from AM radio in the old days, but had no idea it was Ozark Mountain Daredevils! Didn’t know I knew any songs by them.
I "discovered" Firefall last year. They have some songs that can fit into Yacht territory and have some great deep cuts. Their hits are mostly very poppy of course. I remember the hits from my teen years, but I never listened to there albums back then. I did always like the cover art on their self-titled debut album.
Would Al Stewart be considered Yacht Rock?
Do not suffer through the game of chance that plays....always doors to lock away your dreams (To Be Over)
Al Stewart started out as Folk, and morphed into FolkRock, and then to Soft Rock, back to FolkRock, and back to Folk.
He's had a long career.

I could see how the title tracks of Year Of The Cat and Time Passages, and particularly 'Song On The Radio' sonically would fit within a 'yacht rock' playlist. But otherwise, no. Again, it's like Steely Dan not really fitting in- the lyrics have much more about them.

He had a song called "Midnight Rocks" that also had a bit of a "yacht" vibe. Too much folk in the mix in the other things I've heard from him.
Yes, I listened to that song and thought the same. However the playlist from Apple Music visited several other song on 24 Carrots and I decided if I needed to define a genre for his music, I would call it Europop and Mike Oldfield’s non-instrumental stuff would fit there too. Other songs on 24 Carrots:
1. "Running Man" 5:12
2. "Midnight Rocks" 3:57
3. "Constantinople" 4:44
4. "Merlin's Time" 2:43
5. "Mondo Sinistro" 3:07
Side Two
No. Title Length
1. "Murmansk Run / Ellis Island" 7:18
2. "Rocks in the Ocean" 5:15
3. "Paint by Numbers" 5:29
4. "Optical Illusion"
