Three spins into Muriel Grossman’s newest ‘Reverence’ and she’s done it again. Her last one ‘Golden Rule’ was a love letter to spiritual jazz in a Coltrane kinda way. This one retains a bit of that vibe but less reliant on drone-as-instrument and a greater focus on polyrhythms. She’s also expanded her quartet to a quintet with the addition of a Hammond player who’s quite good and adds a lot. Great stuff. Full review coming this week on Instagram @jazzandcoffee

been recently investigating International Anthem label's catalogue

There is some wild stuff, often going a little to far out left field for my current state of mind, but I've got the Makaya McCraven albums ever since their releases.
I declined the Jeff Parker and Lamar albums and a few others.

    1. Bruchstuecke by Phrydderichs Phaelda.
    - Have it recorded on cassette from the L.P.: now that´s available again I´m happy, so happy!. (big smile!)-

    LP recorded in 1975.
    released August 23, 2019.
(Re-mastered from original vinyl by Oliver Haertel at Upstairs Studio Berlin.)

"Even those of you who are already familiar with our label's concept of rediscovering music which has unjustifiably been lost, overlooked or forgotten will be surprised by the reissue of the six-track-record 'Bruchstuecke' LP by Free-Jazz artists Phrydderichs Phaelda."

    2. Playing Well With Others by Joshua Cusack Art Ensemble.
    released December 6, 2019

"The concept of the album was to write a modern jazz album for large ensemble heavily featuring free improvisation as well as electronics."

    More:

    3. Resavoir by Resavoir.
    released June 28, 2019.

Man, I have a sweet spot for this one: December's trade winds ... change of season here in C.R.: from rainy winter to summer? ... I don´t know!

"The self-titled album presents a juicy suite of elegantly-orchestrated lo-fi jazz instrumentals germinated from home recording experiments by the group’s producer/arranger Will Miller."

Not sure if I'm all the way in with this group, but they're definitely owning it. This is pretty organic and fun. Dig the familiar chord progression starting around the 7-minute mark for 'Summon the Fire'?

Hardly think the Maupin and the Miles are neglected, and the Hubbard is certainly a classic in my eyes & ears.

Agreed. However, consider the audience they are reaching. Most have not heard these.

I'd replace Muapin with CC, but yeah...this feels more like a small collection of mildly overlooked gems than forgotten masterpieces.
