Great album, IMO. I don't have the '70 album though, because I can't take the vocals.
This article sums up my feelings on the subject pretty well, though I don't share his aversion to use of the harpsichord.

It would be cool if Enya had a tune called Steve Grossman.

Interesting that this wasn't in the set list at the Village Vanguard just a couple of weeks earlier. I, for one, like the Dolphy flute solos on this tour.

Mention of Dolphy on flute sent me back to one of my favourite tracks from a favourite album:

I agree - Coltrane's solo is extraordinary here. It's much less focused than, for instance, his One Up, One Down tour de force. In the early sections, he seems to get really caught up in certain sonic effects - which almost seemed to me to be like bird song, or even the motion of birds (if that makes sense - a kind of swooping, fluttering) - which are almost direct echoes of/responses to sounds the Dolphy was making during his flute solo. But then he goes on to explore a series of new "soundscapes"...I don't think I've heard a Coltrance solo quite like this anywhere else!

Missed your post, but saw yesterday in my national newspaper it was out...

Already sold out in both CDs & Vinyl. Probably more pressings to come, because her name is only second to Shabaka's in London's scene
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

I'd add Yazz Ahmed to those 2.

Not that I needed to be sold really, but archival Bennink is essentially an instant buy for me.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

Absolutely superb drummer. Last time I saw him play was with The Whammies at the Bimhuis, a great gig. Shocked to realise that was seven years ago!
