I think those two are quite good. But his new one....I dunno. A bit over the top and the melodies are not that exiting, however his playing is still outstanding.
I haven't heard the new one, but I like Illusions and esp. Red and Black Light......he's doing some interesting microtonal stuff, but the grooves are often pedestrian.

The foundations of my musical world are crumbling away. I remember a fantastic set he did with his then-wife Thulani Davis and Don Moye at the Jimmy Lyons medical expenses benefit in 1986 - I still remember how big his tenor sounded - he was just beautiful.
The members of the AEC are wrongly identified in that 1978 photo. Should be Mitchell, Jarman, Moye, Favors.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want something electric, there's David Torn, John Abercrombie, Terje Rypdal. The Metheny is also a real nice album. I bought the Eberhard Weber, Steve Tibbetts, Barre Phillips, John Surman, and Towner/Burton.
If you want piano, Bobo Stenson or Mike Nock.
The Leo Smith is a great album too. I got that in the AEC box.
I didn't see the fifty albums listed - only the 25 shown in the picture...
BTW, this is relatively tempting with those mini-Lp carboard sleeves.
