Nice recording! I only have two of his albums. The first record with Eric Dolphy, and Uptown Conversation.

I have a sampler from that Thirsty Ear label. Some really good stuff on it by Shipp, Spring Heel Jack, and others.

I saw Spring Heel Jack with Matt Shipp & the crew, with Evan Parker, some years ago. A truly mesmeric, magical, gig.

Around that time, Thirsty Ear were just a go-to label for path breaking new material.

I quite enjoy his early 60s Where? album that sometimes gets billed as a Dolphy record.

    Yes, I agree with you!.
"Skin and Bones by Gordon Grdina, Matthew Shipp, Mark Helias" is starting to grow here: I've been able to listen to it 2 full times already and definitely it's right up my alley.

A new Dinosaur album is up for preorder:
    https://dinosaurband.bandcamp.com/album/to-the-earth

After the synthy Wonder Trail this looks to be an all acoustic album, which I think is good news. I like the track that is already online.

    Nice!

At first I thought you meant Dinosaur Jr., which caught me a bit off guard.

I was disappointed with their second album, espaxially after a super strong debut

I'mmprobably wait until more tracks are available on their bandcamp before thinking about ordering the CD, but so far so good.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

It was not a bad album but that overdose of cheesy synths did not get down well with me either.

    Greetings,

Composer/trumpet-player Verneri Pohjola (Pekka's son) has a new album coming out in the spring. Here's one preview track:

    Cheers,

I agree with you both - it felt like the band (or Ms Jurd) had lost their way in/with the electronica.

The same here, not "disappointed" per se but yes, had some problems with the "cheese synth" thing.
    Thanks for the H.U.!!.
