This is a really nice album, released yesterday:

Not the typical avant garde jazz this time but a cover album of old favorites recorded by three excellent musicians with a minimum of rehearsal.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Any recs for that situation? Against all odds, I got my wife hooked on Bohren & Der Club Of Gore's Sunset Mission. I need more.easy listening for a sunny afternoon on the roof deck with a cold beverage and a good book
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

Here’s a nice article about celebrated female drummer Veslemøy Narvesen. It’s in Norwegian, but nothing some translator can’t handle.

Here's a link for the Hoffman forum. For years there's been a thread called Interesting Photos in Rock History. It's a couple thousand pages long but now it's just a couple guys posting boring photos of the same guitar heroes over and over again. I mean how many photos does one need of Status Quo standing with their legs wide open? But this is potentially more interesting, photos from jazz history.

Stunningly sad news that Jaimie Branch 39 year old NYC/Chicago based jazz trumpeter died yesterday. Saw her twice at Big Ears this year with her fly or die band and her Anteloper release this year is one of my favorites.

ECM posted this on Facebook yesterday:
Terje Rypdal turns 75 today. Rypdal’s relationship with ECM dates back to 1970, when he was part of Jan Garbarek’s quartet on Afric Pepperbird, the saxophonist’s label debut. In the following year Manfred Eicher suggested Rypdal to record his own album, thereby beginning one of the label’s most fertile and long-lasting collaborations.
Subsequent to the release of Terje Rypdal’s widely acclaimed 2020 album 'Conspiracy', ECM reissued four classic Rypdal recordings from the 1970s – albums which helped to establish the Norwegian guitarist as a truly original force in creative music: The eponymously-titled 'Terje Rypdal' (recorded 1971), 'What Comes After' (recorded 1973) , 'Whenever I Seem To Be Far Away' (1974) and 'Descendre' (1979).
These CDs had long been out of print and are now available again in a specially priced gatefold paperback edition inspired by the original vinyl artwork.

Not a good week for jazz. Organist Joey DeFrancesco died yesterday at age 51. He was a great talent who also played trumpet and tenor sax.
