Couldn't find it on Amazon... and I didn't try their bandcamp either

I asked my B&M record store to order it and 10days (because it was an import) later it was there
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

Sadness.Drummer Mickey Roker passed away, age 84.A versatile, tasteful artist, who could move effortlessly from gut-bucket blues to the most sophisticated jazz.Saw him live with Dizzy,Milt Jackson-Ray Brown Quintet,Cedar Walton. Thanks for the music.

    RIP Mickey Roker.

Tonight, 2 in a row from Terje Rypdal:

    . Waves. (1978)

    . Descendre. (1980)

Yes, the Rypdall is fantastic. Once I get in a mood for him, it can last a while. I've been in a Art Ensemble of Chicago mood lately. They are another one like that including some of the individual members' efforts.

Fred Hopkins is one guy I really miss - met him a couple of times - a really hilarious, good-humoured guy. Fantastic musician with a completely unique sound.

Yeah, Fred was a monster player. No wonder so many band leaders wanted him in the bass chair.Such a strong voice;every solo was a marvel of sonic architecture.I'm so glad i got to see /hear him live in a variety of bands back in the days.

I missed the Denton Jazz Festival--I didn't even know it existed until the other day. I'd have to drive some, but would have liked to have seen DeJohnette. I'll have to watch for it next year.
