Always loved that one- the title refers to Altschul joking with Anthony Braxton about the graphical diagrams he uses as titles for pieces.

    Making of Vol 4:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXPQr2Jewfk

"Juan “Pollo” Raffo (Buenos Aires, 1959) is a composer, arranger, conductor, keyboardist and music teacher."
"Since 2003 he leads “Raffo”, the group dedicated to the interpretation of his own compositions that combine the rhythms and the character of South American music with the spirit of jazz improvisation. These elements flow through formal structures and compositional developments that are usually associated with academic music, resulting in an unstable blend of erudition and unruliness."

Recommended Gang as the other 3 volumes IMO!!.
    Enjoy!.

    Greetings,

Have been getting a bit more into jazz myself lately and figured I'd share two samples of work by my favorite jazz vocalist-composers:

    Tammy Scheffer

    Song Yi Joen

    Bandcamp links for both (respectively):

    http://tammyscheffer.bandcamp.com/al...up-fall-asleep

    Cheers,

    Alan

    Hi again,

Former Alas keyboardist/composer Gustavo Moretto has been doing some very nice work lately too. Here's a clip of his septet lineup performing the opening track of the final Alas album (from a little over a decade ago):

    Cheers,

    Alan

Anyone heard Miles Okazaki? I have a couple of his discs....listening ot Generations now, and this stuff is really cool. the clip of Song Yi Joen reminded me of this disc, as there's a female scat vocalist, Jen Shyu, on it. Also Binney, and Miguel Zenon, and Dan Weiss....etc.
