I also dig Ran's duet session with Anthony Braxton,"A Memory of Vienna".

That Black Saint/Soul Note box is on my list.

Never heard any recordings. Saw him live about a dozen years ago (in a trio with the Schuller brothers) and wasn't inspired to investigate further.

I like that, Walt. Her singing reminds me of Nina Simone. I have the Lee/Waldron album, After Hours.

Kami Quintet's "Extension". French jazz featuring Jozef Dumoulin. This hits my French/Belgian jazz sweet spots. Touches of Octurn, Aka Moon, Magic Malik, Steve Coleman, Louis Sclavis, some Ben Monder, and even avant-prog.

    WANTED: Sig-worthy quote.

I'm listening to Respect Sextet again today. Great album! I have to thank Rick Petrie at WGMC-FM, Rochester for turning me on to the album several years back. If you like modern jazz and free music, give his show a listen on Tuesday nights 9pm-midnight.

The album is a mix of standards and originals. Some very "straight" post bop playing and some really "beyond" arrangements as well. It does show all sides of Mr. Monder, and he can, and does, play anything.

Friends, I was thinking of writing a few introductory words about these good/different works, but I think that the music itself talks better; plenty of good musics IMO, enjoy!.

    - Jakob Bro - Gefion.

    - The Bad Plus Joshua Redman - same.

Walt, do you wish you had kept some of the vinyl or did you record them some way before getting rid of them. I had a friend that got rid of most of his vinyl, but I think he uploaded them on his hard drive beforehand.

When my turntable broke and i decided not to replace it,keeping any of my vinyl seemed academic.I made a lot of money selling vinyl just like those shown in the clip(and lots more) to Other Music in NYC.Of course, Other Music made out quite well selling my(and others) vinyl to well heeled collectors.

Little did i know how long it would take for some of those titles to show up on cd(and some still haven't).
