Hell, they ain't even old-timey ! - Homer Stokes
While looking/listening to the Mostly Other People Do the Killing at YT, I ran across Mulatu Astatke vid. Sort of ethno, jazzy, funky, some Herbie Hancock? But I like it.
A few free jazz recs from YT's vinyl community:
^^^^ I don't know the Dollar Brand, and the Hemphill and Shepp LPs aren't my faves by them, but otherwise good stuff.

Which Hemphill & Shepp do you like? I'm only beginning to scratch the surface with this free jazz stuff.
Oriental Wind/Okay Temiz - Bazaar - 1981 - Vinyl-Rip
Janne Schaffer on guitar
I have had this LP since it was released, haven't seen it on the tube before
Cozy--I know you didn't ask me directly,
I was asking anyone really, the more the merrier.
That's a lot of listen too. I'll give them a listen and see what I think. I did listen to that Jimmy Giuffre, Free Fall! last night and enjoyed it.
Thanks for the recs.

Shepp's The Way Ahead
Live In San Francisco is great as well.
And his reworkings of the Coltrane tunes are really inventive. It's no wonder Bob Thiele was on the the phone to Coltrane during that session.
I'll check some of these out as time allows, thanks for the recs.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
ECM fans, the web site is back at full strength and fully revised: https://www.ecmrecords.com/home

Thanks Dave for the H.U.
Pura Vida!.
There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind. ∞
Duke Ellington.
Anybody into Ran Blake? I've never listened to his stuff, but I just ordered the Black Saint/Soul Note box. I bought it after listening to a couple tunes from Short Life Of Barbara Monk.
