Thread: Amorphous Androgynous & Peter Hammill -- new album

    ....hmmmm. Nah, pants remain streakless

I can't say I made that connection before but it WOULD make sense, given Jerome's fondness for the electronica of that time.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Space Odyssey like dystopian choirs and moog of Hymortality crash full force into the Led Zep Bonham-like drums of the Immortality Break while Synthony On A Theme of Mortality lives up to its name as an almost Vangelis‘ Bladerunner-esque vintage synthony of some of the themes of the original track utilizing the classic 70s Yamaha CS80 synth before triumphantly soaring to lift off adrift a Pink Floyd-like female wailing aria against classic vintage guitar rock. Psych Recap is all backwards voices and guitars over pounding Tomorrow Never Knows-era Beatles bass and drums with dislocated Peter Hammill psychedelic vocals before the whole cosmic trip cascades finally into the harp daydream reverie and minimoog space landings, choir and french romantic strings of Physically I’m Here, Mentally Far, Far Away.
If this doesn't excite you all, nothing will. Just placing my order on Burning Shed for the vinyl, to make a nice companion to my RSD limited edition.

Man... I've heard the forthcoming album a few times now, I'm even *on* two cuts... and that description made even me really excited, as if I hadn't heard it already, lol

Aaarrgghhhh! I had the vinyl in my Burning Shed basket, but it didn't complete for some strange reason, and I now find it is "out of stock". This can't be the only online seller can it? I didn't think it was a limited edition like the RSD release.

I ordered my vinyl from Rough Trade with no issues. I just ordered the CD from FSOL, who now have gone live with their ordering page.

Yes, there's a vid I've seen of them on YouTube playing a huge outdoor gig with Virgil on drums. Also on this new album with Hammill is Ray Fenwick. He was the guitarist in Steve Howe's band, and I think Ray met the AA guys at Virgil's funeral, which is how he came to be on the album (I *think*)

New trailer vid for the upcoming release by Amorphous Androgynous & Peter Hammill! (Hammill's voice sounds fantastic on this)

    Release date -- November 20, 2020.

Probably should've waited for a US retailer to stock these, but I went ahead and ordered from FSOL directly (Burning Shed is now sold out on the CD, too!). Thanks for the link!
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

Absolutely! I thought there would be more comment on here about this one, it seems a little under the radar considering it has one of the all time great progressive maverick talents on board. It’s one of the best albums of this year for me.

I actually missed the release date, or the email from FSOLDigital with the full download went to my spam folder and I missed it there. Anyhoo...just downloaded the full album this morning, will give it a first listen in a short while

Waiting for mine as well, it was pushed back to December 4th at Burning Shed where I had it pre-ordered.

So...it's very very good. I think a lot of folks here would go absolutely nuts for it. Hammill is apparently musically immortal and is in strong form here. Excellent production and as with the best of the AA/FSOL albums, the whole thing has a very cohesive feel that works as one big longform work. I don't listen to prog/psych rock much anymore and expected to give this just a quick listen but was impressed at how well it kept my attention.

Special nod for closer Synthony which has some fabulous CS-80 synth work, making it an excellent/substantial bookend to the album.

    Same.

I’m curious if anyone in the States has received their order from FSOL.

^ I can't speak to your specific situation, but the mail is all kinds of fucked up right now. Everything is taking 3 times as long as normal to get anywhere.

I believe USPS is also taking on at least some of the COVID-19 vaccine delivery effort.

I know that CDs were late being pressed and only started shipping maybe two weeks ago. I live outside Chicago and got my CD (actually, CD's as I ordered the double pack) this past weekend from FSOL, so just less than a week ago. The vinyl album I got about two weeks ago, I ordered that from Rough Trade.

Arrived today. Not too bad for an international shipping this close to Xmas.

First 12 minute song is quite good. Rest of the album seems like a remix of it.
