An evening with Wild Man Fischer

I knew that Zappa had produced the first record of Wild Man Fischer, but I never heard it and never really looked out for it neither. So the other day I listened to a Zappa bootleg `Our Man In Nirvana `Fullerton College 8 November 1968 and WMF was a guest on the show and there are two tracks on the boot : The Wild man Fischer story and I´m the meany, quite fascinating in it´s strangeness. So I found a re- release of the original 2LP set as a 2 CD re- release on Gonzo Multimedia ( 2015) Looks official....apparently Gail Zappa didn´t wanted to re-release this one.
Starting with the strange cover ( apparently at one point he had attacked his mom with a knife) it´s an interesting record and in a way as much a Zappa as a WMF record. It´s a build up as a kind of Zappa- social- field- recording not unlike Trout Mask Replica, even so musically both records have not much in common.
I found also a short ( 30 minutes ) German TV documentary about WMF from 2002 which is quite depressing.....

Although I have heard very little of his music I did meet him one day in '78 in downtown Hollywood Ca at Tower records.
Seemed like an interesting guy.

He was having a 'good day' I suppose. No evidence of mental problems. Lucky me.

I've worked with crazy geniuses.
WMF wasn't a genius. He was just a person with serious mental health problems.

IMO.
