Yume No Oka is amazing. I love Esoptron, too. And I like Kenso III better than II! I'm a weirdo!

Great feed back about the band. Thanks so much. If anyone has the boxset and wants to sell, reach out to me privately by email.

I do have that one, and it is very nice indeed. Don't think it has the edge on II, but I should probably dig them both out and just luxuriate in that Kenso sound...

Among the myriad of live records they’ve released, I’ve always felt that Kenso Guki (the 25th Anniversary live record) stood perhaps a notch or two above the others. Fantastic recording, great playing, and a good sampling of their career. Their last few studio records weren’t as consistently great as Kenso II, but had many, MANY great moments, some of which hit higher peaks than Kenso II.

Fair enough, I suppose it does all come down to personal taste in the end. I really love Kenso III, as well as Sparta. There's so much good music they've made over the years that picking a favorite for me is a bit hard... But Yume hits all the right spots for me overall. That middle section of "The Fourth Reich" with the (far too brief) synth break and that crazy time signature change...

At any rate, we can all agree that Kenso are great whichever album happens to be one's favorite.

Kenso blew the doors off that day. Transatlantic had to follow them unfortunately.

Kenso would be a tough act to follow for almost any band, IMO.

Everyone agreed (save maybe five people) that Kenso should have been the headliner.

I've always preferred III to II, though they're both awesome. Like many others, though, Yume no Oka remains my personal favorite.

    Cheers,

Slightly OT: Kenso has opened a shop recently, but the only thing you can buy now is the T-Shirt which was made when the band celebrated its 45th anniversary.

By the time you get it with shipping it will probably be $45.

^^Truth. $43.85, in Canadian dollars, and that is only with the cost of shipping to Japan, not sure about an overseas shipping charge, so it could well be at least $60.
