Journey of One,UPDATE: Alternate Video and REMIX

After 2 months of work, the song and video are now finished.

The story of pioneers leaving everything to start a new life in the Pacific West.
This song in it's present form could not have been created without the talent of my friends, Marvin Cripps and Bruce Wheelock.
Their participation inspires me, and to me, elevated the creativity of this track to a place I could not have done by myself.
    Forever thankful for their contribution.

Music, video & recorded performance Richard Hermans
    Main Vocal and lyrics..Marvin Cripps
    additional Vocals&lyrics..Richard Hermans
    Drums..Bruce Wheelock

    Hey Richard!!

First off, sorry this almost slipped past me...too much of a flurry of excitement over Tangerine Dream boxes on the main board

It's really great!! Nice sort of Genesis groove going on, the ending instrumental coda is quite nice. At times Marvin's voice reminds me of Rick Wright's unique style (which is a good thing). Thanks so much for sharing this, you should be super proud!!
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Also, Ephemeral Sun: it's a thing and we like making things that might be your thing: https://ephemeralsun.bandcamp.com

John, thank you so much. Always great to read your thoughts and kind words.
Yes I agree, Marv has a wonderful earthy organic voice that I love.
Check back, I'll be posting the all new video by Marv and REMIX by Bruce. It's quite different, Bruce is the drummer on this and owns his own professional recording studio in CA. So he brought out all the fancy thingamajiggy's and put them on the mix and slams those Master Outs to the limit. lol

The instrumental tracks are moving and well-recorded, particularly the Mellotron (?) and guitar. I'd redo the vocals because he comes off muffled and off-key at times. The addition of a female voice could take this to a new level.

The photos are interesting but the visual sequencing could be more engaging with the addition of some movie footage, perhaps culled from early movies (1910s/'20s) set in the Old West.

Thanks so much for watching/listening, and I appreciate the feedback.
For reasons I won't go into, I had some very challenging days/nights completing this project and it seemed like it would never get finished.
I agree, the addition of some early black/white footage would add a lot to the video. You'd be surprised how difficult it is to find even black&white images of the time period.
This was really my second attempt at creating a video, and with basic Windows 10 Video Edit I had very little to work with. I will be picking up a better video editing software for any future projects. Since I'm on a budget, probably be something in the Sony line.
And in the end, I lost my original file when I thought I saved it, but only to the MP4 conversion. I have the storyboard images but had attempted editing and the timing for each sequence is off. By then I had reached the point I was done, and didn't even want to see it ever again. lol

I think your idea of a female singer is interesting, I hadn't thought of that. I understand Marv's voice isn't for everyone, and I normally do the lead vocals, but bowed out this time as I invested so much time and energy into the music side of it.

I will be posting the remix version with a completely different video that Marv created, and there is some very nice video footage in the sequences that you may enjoy.
So please come back and let me know what you think about the new video.

I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch the video, as well to comment and offer suggestions.

Richard, I’ve only watched/listened to the first version so far, but really enjoyed it! I really liked the instrumental part near the end too. Well done!!

Thanks John, again thanks for taking time to watch/listen.
I love both versions..of course I'm a bit close to my own version, but it's great to see and hear someone else's perspective.
I understand now why most bands will get an outside producer and mastering.
I think Marv did a great job on the visuals and Bruce put that nice glassy sheen on everything.
I tend to back off the loudness factor that so many producers are doing today, and even bought some mastering stuff from iK Multimedia which may come in handy down the road, but didn't make it on this one.
But the final product has to get past my wife and our cat Sweetie. lol

    thanks again for tuning in.
