New music from Marillion's Mark Kelly

Mark Kelly has a new band, Mark Kelly's Marathon - preorder and more info on the band here: https://marathonsounds.com/

I like what I am hearing so far. Not really as keyboard-centric as one might imagine from a keyboard player. This lead "single" is very good imho.

First song from the album, Amelia:

Thanks for the tip. Ordered the Deluxe Edition. Jeebus, this sounds great.

Who is the very Gabriel-sounding singer? Is that the guy who was part of the Security Project until recently?
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

I've come to suspect that there's a Prog factory somewhere where they crank out these Gabriel sounding singers on an assembly line.

The site, mentioned above, includes band-member bios. https://marathonsounds.com/

They seem to be unknowns, and the bass player is Kelly's nephew.

I believe you're referring to Brian Cummins from the UK Genesis Tribute Band Carpet Crawlers, and no it's not him.
Personally, I don't hear the Gabriel tone in this singers voice at all.

I've always loved Mark Kelly's keyboard playing and writing, but I think I'll pass on this one. But thank goodness he didn't try to sound like Marillion 2.

Doesn't sound like PG - listen to how he sings the first two lines, esp finally "below."

Sounded like outtakes from SO. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

The singer doesn’t sound like Gabriel, but uses similar inflections in his singing.

This Time sounds Mike & the Mechanics-ish to me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
