Learning my way around the acoustic bass in the late 80s there were three players I couldn't get enough of and whose playing formed the core of my own approach: Charlie Haden, Dave Holland, and Gary Peacock. Somewhere in my basement is a stack of solos I transcribed and learned representing all three. Two of them gone now, but their gifts live on in me and countless others. RIP

    RIP.

Standards Vol I and II have been staples of mine for a long time....complete with weird Jarrett scatting.

Hmm? This was posted on a number of musician FB pages yesterday and later deleted so what's the deal? I haven't seen any official confirmation from a reliable source.
