Yes -Royal Affair Tour (Live in Las Vegas)

Details of the new live album are now out, vinyl and CD due out 10/30. I love the cover art - still not a fan of that lion though. Album is coming out on the BGU/BMG Rights Management (UK) Ltd label, distributed in the US by WEA, which is one of the majors.

01 No Opportunity Necessary No Experience Needed (Live)
    02 Tempus Fugit (Live)
03 Going for the One (Live)
    04 All Good People (Live)
    05 Siberian Khatru (Live)
    06 Onward (Live)
    07 America (Live)
    08 Imagine (Live)
    09 Roundabout (Live)
    10 Starship Trooper (Live)

I agree: Great album cover! But no Gates??! That would have been the main attraction on this one... If they needed to save space to keep this a single disc they should have ditched the Roundabout/Starship Trooper combo. How many of those don't we all own?

Not the most exciting set list. But... ah, what the heck -- I know I'll get this one when it comes out.

I love the cover artwork too. Very nice.

No Gates?! Another mad decision, why should I buy this?

There might be a valid reason why Gates is not on this recording.

Possibly because they want to include the whole of Relayer on the next live album. But I would take 2 versions of Gates over yet more versions of ISAGP & Roundabout etc. Also, next years Relayer tour to my mind is still under severe doubt and may never happen. It makes no sense to me. Wont be buying it.

That wasn’t what I meant. I doubt it’s because they don’t want two versions of Gates.

Pass! I've got enough Yes live albums already. Yes has way too many live albums and compilations. I never realized that until I started listening to Pandora Radio on my Smartass phone, and no matter how many times you select "Don't play this song again", they still manage to pull out another variation on Roundabout, I've Seen All Good People, etc, taken from a live album or yet another best of. After awhile, I realized I was better off sticking with my Walkman, because once I deleted an album off it, I didn't have to deal with ilstening to those songs again, until I reinstated it. And yeah, I'm not gonna hear anything "new" on the Walkman, but most of the time, I didn't hear anything new on Pandora either, except for that one early Kool And The Gang instrumental with the synth on it.

I used to use Pandora but time and again I found my channels getting "stuck" with the same selections over and over. Conceptually it's a brilliant idea and perhaps it works better for others...for me the pool of discovery became increasingly shallow. Oh wells.

As for the album...for me personally it's an odd selection of tracks, neither hit-heavy enough to lure casual fans nor deep-catalog enough to lure a wide swath of more hardcore/lifelong fans. But for those who are excited to hear it (or simply still Yes completists), I hope it's an enjoyable listen
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

    An unforgettable night? Historic?

I think they are using Neal Morse's PR guy on this one.

Dean's painting is very nice! Graphics are a boring mess as usual.

If there was a release of the first Yes gig ever, I'd buy that.

Whereas I have been buying only the audio formats of the recent live releases as I don't need to see these once-young heroes of my youth turn geezer like me. Too depressing.

The word going 'round is that the label insisted on a single album release for this one, as opposed to a double. One might assume that a double live release would have Gates on it. It also might make more sense to "leave it" ( ) for the Relayer tour live album.

Another one I'll buy just for the cover, not buying it for that pale cover of Imagine.

Yeah, we've already debated about the Gates thing; it is obvious the plan is to release yet another live album from the 2021 Relayer tour that will include Gates. And I really hope it will also include a DVD (fingers crossed)

No "Gates of Delerium" because, at the current tempo, it would add another two CDs to the set...

That verbiage was used to emphasize the involvement of Yes, John Lodge, Asia and Carl Palmer all on the same bill. It is kinda odd for the label to continue using it on a live album with only one of those acts though.

They probably didn’t care for the way Gates came out. I’d buy the cover but don’t really care about yet another live Yes album.
