The Caretaker-Everywhere at the End of Time

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but it is about six hours of ambient electronic music depicting six stages of descent into dementia.

It is some of the most unsettling music I have ever heard. It is also quite beautiful and emotional in parts, but I don't know if that is just the benefit of me knowing the concept which lies behind the music.

It begins nostalgic and welcoming and ends as bleak as a weathered concrete slab in a field as dreamlike flakes that are not quite snow fall all around it and you.

Here is the album on youtube:

I love love love everything James Kirby does. The Caretaker is great (and yes, this "closing" project for the Caretaker is fantastically cool, especially in the later stages where things are truly broken). Not saying this is essential, but this DOES exist and for me is perfect for rounding out this particular project:

In addition to the above, he also operates as The Stranger, V/VM, and my own favorite, Leyland Kirby. His trilogy for 'Sadly The Future Is No Longer What It Was' is some amazing gorgeous melancholy stuff.
Ephemeral Sun - because I gotta do something about these boxes of CDs in the basement:

Big fan of Leyland Kirby. I play "Sadly The Future..." and "Eager To Tear Apart The Stars" most often.Sombre, effecting "night music" of the highest caliber.
