Where had Alvin been living recently? I know he was born in England, but a lot of musicians move away from there.

We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973
Sad to hear it. My first album by them was Shhhh... which I still enjoy. Yes, they tore it up at Woodstock, and had many good albums.
Palladia showed the directors cut of Woodstock the other day, Alvin Lee is definitely one of the highlights of the whole thing.
RIP
Sorry to hear the news. Saw Ten Years After in the summer of 69' just before Woodstock supporting Spirit at the Rose Palace in Pasadena California. They did the same set as Woodstock. I hope Alvin finally made it home. RIP
Day dawns dark...it now numbers infinity.
RIP Al, was just spinnin StonedHenge, SSSSH the other day. TYA was one of the forefathers of our Progressive Rock movement! Many a discussion about the fastest gun in the west back in the day...Jimi,Clapton,Beck,Page,Blackmore....Al always got my vote, nice long fluid runs, great tone, sharp and fast as hell and did it consistently for many many years. Saw TYA at MSG 1970 for the first time. Will spin Live Fillmore East tonite!!! Thanks Al......
This is a SHOCK, a very sad day for TYA fans, for all music fans. Thanks for the memories Al, RIP.....I saw TYA a few times in the 70's, one gig that comes to mind is Oct. 1972 Academy of Music 20th row center, Ramatam opening , One of these days boy.......

RIP Alvin-the fastest gun in the west!

Holy F*CK ! VERY sad news. He was one of my early GTR hero's (before I crossed paths with Steve Howe & John McLaughlin)
RIP Alvin Lee.
Wow, sad news. Believe it or not I consider him to be a pretty under rated guitarist. This despite the fact that he was clocked at being the fastest guitarist(most notes per second; I believe 7)until Eddie Valen came on the scene. Yeah, "I'm going home" was certainly one of the highlights at Woodstock(along with Santana's "soul sacrifice"). It's too bad TYA are remember by most classic rock fans for only "I'd love to change the world." RIP Alvin Lee.

A Space In Time is a great listen. Alvin really new how to do aggressive, funky, bluesy rock 'n' roll. Sad to hear this.
Another great Italian. Thanks for coming to the show, hope you enjoyed it. On behalf of Alvin Lee, see you next time.
Also, this made me chuckle when I read it.
I don't know. I've listened to classic rock radio from three decades at least from two different states and not once have I ever heard "I'm going home" on the radio. I'm sure that deep tracks on satellite radio plays it though.

Rest In Peace, Alvin Lee. God bless you.
Weird because the only one I've ever really heard was "I'd love to change the world."

Is "I'm Going Home" that fast blues boogie number?
no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone
RIP Alvin.
Reports indicate that he died unexpectedly from routine surgery.
I saw TYA more times than I can remember; they were real roadhogs back in the glory daze. The first time I caught them was on a bill with Family and the Nice; the last time with Hendrix in '70, at which point I moved on. One memorable gig was with Savoy Brown that ended with a mixed group jam, Chris Youlden taking over the vocals while Alvin and Kim duked it out.
