THis was a great interview, thanks for doing that and sharing.
Sherwood is a solid all-around player and nice person. I admire his playing live - and I also think he could be a very successful drummer if he wanted to go that route, I think his drumming is overlooked. He looks pretty tired in this interview, he does not look as if he takes good care of his health.
I enjoyed the moment when the comment was made about Union having some merit in hindsight, and Sherwood pivoted to trying to make that case for Open Your Eyes. In my view, Union is generally regarded as not one of the most favorite Yes records, but Open Your Eyes was viewed as probably the least-liked Yes record back in 1997, and that seems to still be the case today (although Heaven and Earth seems to be second beind OYE).
He said something about how he likes to watch television while producing records. I thought that was interesting.
But all respect to him, he has been able to deftly navigate a band with a lot of baggage and egos, and earn the support of many fans as he fills a spot created by one of the all-time great bass players. Not easy to do.
