This is a well-researched look into the founding of the NK regime and how it operates from someone who grew up in the communist Soviet Union. It is a useful point of view for understanding how the Kim dynasty operates. The chapter on reunification goes through numerous scenarios and really brings home just how difficult, if not impossible, this would be. Well worth your time.
That sounds very interesting. I just ordered it.

I suppose that reunification will be much, much, much harder than the reunification of Germany and I doubt this will ever happen.

Marlon James: Black Leopard, Red Wolf. Fantasy set in either an imaginary part of Africa, or the African part of an imaginary world. Quite different from most fantasy I've read.

No, I can't imagine Tolkien characters, even the orcs, saying "Fuck the gods".

Today I visited a new bookstore in Utrecht (well, an old store in a new building) and found out their music department had grown a lot since my last visit.
Besides Steve Hackett's A Genesis In My Bed I bought two books on album-cover albums:
    - Mute: A Visual Document From 1978>Tomorrow by Terry Burrows with Daniel Miller
    - The Art Of Punk + New Wave Covers.

But the most interesting new book I found was Graeme Thomson: Small Hours - The Long Night Of John Martyn (2020). (I haven't read Some People Are Crazy: The John Martyn Story by John Neil Munro b.t.w.)

I read this whole trilogy* about 20 years ago in Europe. My memories are (1) beautiful language and (2) incomprehensible plot. I may reread them some day...

*not counting The Worm Ouroboros, which had quite delighted me and inspired me to buy the trilogy...

Very disturbing, as expected. What a sick family, especially Fred and of course, Donald. Mary’s a good writer. A quick read.

Knock on Woodstock by Elliot Tiber. The first book he wrote about his life in White Lake, NY, and his supposed role in the Woodstock festival in 1969. His second book, Taking Woodstock, which was made into the movie of the same name, is pretty much a rehash of the first one. I rewatched the movie last night. It's very enjoyable, and it's one of the few movies I've seen that is better than the book.
