    R.I.P. Jorge Santana.

    Carlos Santana's youngest brother, Jorge died of natural causes at 68 years old this Friday.
    He was founder and leader of Malo: an american musical group known for its blend of latino, rock, jazz, and blues as some of you may know.
    Also, his years spent in the Fania All-Stars were decisive and important for its sound IMO!.

    Rest in Peace Maestro!.

    I am ansolutely flabbergasted that none of their first three albums were never reissued in CD (except for Japan-only releases)

    The first one was released by Warner brothers. I have the box set of the first four. Some great music on them. RIP Jorge

    I bought the Malo self titled LP a few years back due to my extreme admiration for "Suavecito". The remainder of the album is decent, but not anything close to the aforementioned track. That experience reminded me of why I quit buying albums based on one track, once I got into prog rock in my early twenties. That "Suavecito" cut is a real gem, for certain.

    I also have an album with the three Santana brothers on it which is a very cool, jazzy guitar fest.

    Sorry to hear of Jorge's passing.

    I always liked the mid-90s "Santana Brothers" album, which was Carlos, Jorge and Carlos' nephew. This was right after Jorge and Carlos had toured together and released the excellent Sacred Fire live album.

    I saw him perform with the Fania All Stars in late 70s. But I met him at a social gathering once.

    The first one was. I have it.Some of the others were Japanese only CD's and in 2001 there was even a 4-CD box on CD.
