How about the stupid stuff marketed to old men, like "male enhancement" products. Now there's a snake oil that always sells well. All for geezers that can't come to terms with the fact that they don't wake up in the morning as hard as a rock.

What cracks me up are the "for Him" commercials (or whatever it's called), selling male enhancement products to guys in their 20s and 30s.

Or those sending mails to me, to try to sell them. The last time I looked, there wasn't anything that could be enhanced.

    My wife gets them, too.

Then again, it's not just for him.

It's actually a gag gift I made for my Mom's birthday. My folks are at a point in their lives when they want to declutter, rather than add to the clutter. They specifically asked my brothers and me not to give them any gifts. In lieu of that, I've been giving gag gifts. On father's day, I gave my Dad a Dodge Charger. I took a USB phone charger, printed out 2 Dodge logos, and affixed them to either side of the charger.

I just saw an infomercial for "Organic" bed linens. Is there such a thing as inorganic linens??? Even petroleum based synthetic fibers are organic, because petroleum itself is an organic compound.

Alas, alack, and Alaska, that is not what "organic" means in marketing. It has a legal meaning that pretty much excludes anything made from petroleum...

So, no, there is no "organic" Vaseline. It has no fiber, either. But it's guaranteed gluten-free...

There's actually no "legal" definition of "Organic." It's pretty much whatever some slick salesman convinces people it is.

Even that gluten-free fade is starting to fade. Not nearly as many people are diagnosing themselves with Celiac Disease.

Not quite. There absolutely are legal requirements for labeling food as organic. I think you're confusing that with "natural."

In the US the original Oregon Tilth , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Tilth https://tilth.org rules were significantly watered down by industry lobbying.

Depends, I suppose, on what you mean by "legal". There is definitely USDA code that defines it. Here is an explanatory page from the USDA.
