Ooh i have to think again what I bought this year and what of that is released this year.

    Likely top 4
    Tyshawn Sorey - Unfiltered
    Thirlwell & Steensland - Oscillosomething
Jennifer Curtis & Tyshawn Sorey - Invisible Ritual
Eight Blackbird - In the death of night.

Discovery of the year is Tyshawn Sorey for me. I bought 4 of his albums, but that is 11 hours of music. Still digesting it all.

It is quite slow and moody jazz. Little bit in the vein of stuff that Miles Davis did in the sixties. Pleasant but not particularly stunning album.

Here is one review to give more insight about the album: https://www.allaboutjazz.com/the-dea...dition-records

    Do you like it?

I have all of the RP albums; the prior three had a much more "cosmic" scope in the music, art, all that stuff. Kistvaen is more grounded, and IMHO is absolutely gorgeous.

    This is particularly good https://titantotachyons.bandcamp.com/album/cactides

2/3 of Zorn's Simulacrum (Matt Hollenberg and Kenny Grohowski) team with super-talented, super-beautiful guitar player Sally Gates for an excellent morsel of experimental/avant/metal music.

This is super. I used to say of Guapo that if you've got James Sedwards in your band and he isn't playing guitar, you know you've got quite a guitarist. The same applies with Matt Hollenberg - and Sally Gates is stellar for sure.

Also, at this point if Kenny Grohowski joined a Milli Vanilli cover band I'd probably buy the record.

Lol, although this would be a cover-cover band, since Milli Vanilli were a cover band of themselves
