Songs of Solace, Hope and Inspiration

For me, music and humor have been a lifeline and in these time now more than ever.

Tell me which songs can elevate your mood and provide some solace?

Iíll start it off with the first that came to mind:

    Crazy creatures of our doom
Telling us there is no room.
    Not enough for all mankind
And the seas of time are running dry.
    Don't they know it's a lie...
Man is born with the will to survive,
He'll not take no for an answer.
He will get by, somehow he'll try,
He won't take no, never let go, no...
I hear them talk about Kingdom Come,
    I hear them discuss Armageddon...
They say the hour is getting late,
But I can still hear someone say,
    This is not the way...
Man is born with the will to survive,
He'll not take no for an answer.
He will get by, somehow he'll try,
He won't take no, never let go, no...

Great idea for a thread, Buddhabreath!

I'll chime in with George Harrison's title track to All Things Must Pass.
… particularly the line, "Its not always going to be this grey"

This one worked for me at one time, although the album works too.

Nostalgia, you know, ain't what it used to be. Furthermore, they tells me, it never was.

    Or, for the purists,

Maka ki ecela tehani yanke lo!

    Interesting choice Mathilde Santing.
She is a good singer who often prefers singing stuff written by others.
I wonder what Todd would think of that version.

I have never known what the song was about, but I would include Magma's Lihns here:

I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.

^^^ Beautiful song that brings back a flood of memories and moisten the eyes. Hereís one from Roy Harper that I find strangely and profoundly moving:

Supposedly Lihns is about (& Kobaian for) the rain.

One of Ian Andersonís finest songs for my money. This oneís more about strength me thinks.

Hunh - to me, that's always been a serious downer song. I guess I pay too much attention to the lyrics and not enough to the lovely melody...

I definitely see your point. I said it was about strength since the protagonist of the narrative is leaving behind those who choose to stay and will live just one more day to do the things they should have done. Not our hero of the story, no! He, despite the risks is bravely skating away on the thin ice of the new day! Of course, this is just a song, and as such is open to interpretation. Your reaction to it is every bit as valid as mine.

From the underrated and largely forgotten (as far as I can tell) band Canada's Kensington Market:
